Hello everyone. I'm new to Reaper and I'm having a blast working with a differnt DAW. I just have a quick question. Kinda dumb but I wanted to be safe. I originally downloaded the 2.5 version and my computer crashed. I was able to recover Reaper and the work I had recorded, after rewriting Windows on my hard drive. I starting getting updates and realized I am some how using 2.3. If I download the updates to 2.5 will I lose my presets etc ? And is the update a step by step easy task or do I have to download a file and install in in a certain file etc. ? Thanks for your time.

RE: Updating to 2.5 ?

Welcome to Reaperland! :) No you can install the new version simply over the older one. If you want to be on the safe side, it's always a good idea to backup your user folders which sit in [XP] C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Account_Name\Application Data\REAPER [Vista] C:\USERS\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Reaper and contain your saved settings, track templates, FX chains and so on. But it's generally a safe process. Updating is very simple because it's exactly what you did on your first installation, except you don't have to point to a folder again because Reaper knows where it installed the first time.
