Ok guys I have 20 separate vob and I used Ifo edit to create my IFO and BUP files. When ready to burn w/ Nero 5.5.80 using DVDVideo mode, the output come out great but only the first 9 chapters. Using PowereDVD to foward to the 10th chapter....can't. Using Apex 5131 first 9 chapters ok. After that Apex reads randomly from all of the 20 vob on the dics. Using Nero 5.5.90 gives an error, and it would only takes in first 9 vob. And error saying "The following files not reside in the VIDEO_TS directory of a DVD-Video compilation: VTS_01_10.VOB .....through VTS_01_20.VOB" So is there a way to bypass that. Eventhough the IFO says there're 20 vob.

First, let me comment on 5.5.9.0. I've had problems with Nero after version 5.5.8.0. It always sees that I've changed things and it complains and will not burn properly. I've had no problems with 5.5.8.0 and I've used it ever since. I've burned MANY of my backups/compilations this way and have never had a problem with them playing anywhere. Second, what concerns me is your saying that you have upwards of 20 VOB's. I'm not sure I understand this. I forget what the exact number is but the DVD standard allows for roughly 1GB per VOB. How is it that yours has 20? I've never seen a DVD that was set up this way. What is the title?

I can see where the problem lies. There can only be 9 .vob files per title set (vts_xx_1.vob through vts_xx_9.vob) in addition to the menu vob. The names MUST be 8.3 format. There is no way you could need more than that unless you have made the files smaller than allowable. In that case I'd suggest you recombine and resplit them into standard length files. (use vobmerge, vobsplit) Are you somehow under the impression that every chapter (or vobid, or cell) needs a seperate file? If so, think again. The 9 files are a mere convenience for PCs, they end up as one big contigous block on the DVD.

mpucoder: yes I really need all 20 separate vob. Because I am doing karaoke so each vob is a song. Yes I can merge the vob but then how do I make chapters for chapters in a vob file ? How do i make chapter points ? What program do i need to create the ifo after the merged vob files ? So that when play in standalone dvd i have like 4 chapters in a single vob file.

How are you making chapter points now? DVD players (software or standalone) do NOT use the file system to locate chapters, so which file a song resides in is immaterial. In fact, a song can span files, it doesn't matter. What does matter is the vobid and cellid, these are what PTT (chapters) can point to. So, if the first 9 are working, then they must have been assigned unique vobid's.

mpucoder: I am trying my make a dvd-r for standalone dvd player. I used Ifoedit to create my ifo. It will create the vobid and cellid for me. So i don't really understand what u meant by your reply. I just want to have my 20 separtate vob into a dvd. Merge or not merge i just want to put it on a dvd and able to select all 20 chapters. Is there a way ??

You need to extract the audio and video information you want out of the VOB's and reauthor it. You can set your chapters and navigation wherever you want it and however you want it. When you compile the project, the authoring software will create your IFO's and VOB's for you which you can then burn to DVD-R. What you're doing is like trying to "put the cart before the horse". You're going about it backwards and, as such, are making things infinitely more difficult for yourself.

what software is good for menu and chaptering ? Well just for some info. Karaoke has to have dual audio stream. So I need a software that would take in 2 audio stream.

Just about any of them will work for you then. I don't know of any authoring software that does not accept at least 2 audio streams.
