Is there a similar plug to Wave's L2 that is in Reaper's freebie bundle? I am assuming L2 is a limiter and it would behave similar to eventhorizon? I don't have L2 so just curious if anyone has L2 and can tell a little bit about it vs the effects in Reaper.

RE: Waves Plugins

Yeap, L2 wouldn't be the "weapon of choice" for loudness maximizing for me either. Actually, I'm using it way more on invidual tracks than on summed mixes. It's easy to set up and in this way you can use more than ~2db of reduction without it sounding like ass. I could say that (L1/L2) is my go-to limiter in mixing, not neccesarely because of the sound, but because it's so painless and fast to set up. Voxengo Elephant and Oxford Limiter, couldn't live without those two =)

I'm using Cakewalk Boost11. It's fairly transparent and VERY simple to use as well.

RE: Waves Plugins

the best free limiter is BuzMaxi3: for high transparent loudness. And the NastyVSD (within Nasty Series): as a vintage maximizer. Barricade is also very good. I use the old Voxengo Elephant (cause their new graphic style has nothing to do with voxengo-Plugins anymore), but if you like the GUI, they offer discounts at the moment. With this one, you can definitely save your money for L2. But as a Reaper user, its just fair to say, that you can use the Reaper limiters of course, but i would work with the Freeware named above instead.

RE: Waves Plugins

The W1 Limiter by George Yohng is a free limiter that is to be an exact clone of Waves L1... not the L2 but close.

Some of the Antress stuff is nice, I don't think the pack contains the Modern Channel strip which I use lot but still great stuff.Check out the,"Spacer" for a nice reverb.Best used on it's own send track.
