RE: Couple of quick questions..

deesser to remove the sharp sound of esses (uses a compressor-like process) power dither/dither will add some noise to the signal to prevent digital artifacts when you bounce to disk to a lower bitdepth Gate a device that will only pass sound if it is above a certain treshold DC-offset removal examines your audio-file and sets the supposed zero-point of your audio to the zero-point expander expands dynamics. In that respect the opposite of a compressor expander-gate combination of expander and gate signal generator simple plugin to generate sounds for calibrating your equipment time compression/expansion makes it possible to slow down or speed up audio without affecting the pitch

Maybe this will help. It's from the PT manual. The DC Offset Removal plug-in recognizes and removes spikes caused by DC offset in the currently selected region if any are present. Marc

RE: Couple of quick questions..

A DC offset is a constant (Direct Current) offset which can sometimes cause your wave file to be offset (modulated on top of) above or below the center line of the waveform. For example: If your audio has a positive DC offset above the center of the waveform.. then you will notice that as your session plays the region it'll pop.. the pop is the same as if you put a 9V DC battery across your speaker - it'll pop once when you add the DC voltage, and again when you remove it.. The plug-in removes this constant voltage. Rail

RE: Couple of quick questions..

It's especially a problem if you have DC offset on one channel and don't have it on the other channel... was common in the pre-Digi days of using crappy soundcards...
