I've been working on an indian dvd. the source as usual is bad. i've been trying to remove these pixel blocks using various de-interlacing combinations (TDEInt, TomsMoComp etc.). i tried to IVTC it as well but it hasn't worked for me so far. - Pixel Blocks I haven't been successful in removing these strange dots appearing on the edges.. - Dot like artifacts i've uploaded a Sample VOB here: any help is appreciated. thx.

Okay, not sure why you picked that sample for the VOB, it's just credits moving. I see the dot crawl pretty easily. I tried using GuavaComb to fix it, and had mixed results. Not sure what to suggest. Using TFM().TDecimate() to handle IVTC seemed to work reasonably well, hard to tell without a real scene. It didn't leave too much combing in the credits anyway. Hopefully someone else can help. When you upload samples, use someone other than rapidshare. People sometimes have issues. Also, consider using DGIndex to just demux an m2v instead of including the extra bits required for the audio track(s). ~MiSfit

@blue_misfit: thx for replying. in the AVI (along with sample VOB) if you see, it's showing lots of blocking or maybe haloing in dark areas. blocking is clearly visible here. that's only reason behind picking up this sample. i am uploading a sample VOB with real scene on maxupload. will post the link here in few mins.

@blue_misfit: somehow guavacomb didn't work for me. i tried DeDot() for removing dot crawls and to me result looks good. there are still some leftovers (nose part) if you see the images below. can they be removed as well with high parameter settings? Before: After: Chroma blocking is still there. is there a way i can reduce/remove them without loosing much details? if u've time can u pls take a look at the real scene sample here? Sample VOB: thx.

Tcomb would help more then DeDot... Atleast so my experience with anime showed... In the readme of Tcomb there are instructions how to tweak it specifically for DotCrawl.

@DarkT: thx for ur input mate. i tried TComb with these parameters.. TComb(mode=0,fthreshL=12,othreshL=12) it successfully removed dot crawl but it tends to blur/distort da image. check the lips and jaw part. any suggestions?

Yes..i went thru the manual and applied the custom adjusting described in it. Also, i changed certain DeDot values and it removed all the dot crawl. in certain frames i still do see dots, maybe coz the filter needs a few static frames for removing dot crawl. i'll try your suggestion. thx. :)

RE: Need help in removing these artifacts

thx for ur input, manono. sorry for the credits sample. i've fixed the link in first post. :) yeah the source is crap and i've been spending lots of time on it. considering the resources i've, running filters like fft3d, mvtools etc wud just be an overkill for my system. wat can be done about the two logos? can they be removed? if so, pls tell me how. DeHalo_Alpha successfully removed edge enhancements & it looks pretty good now. i tweaked bright/contrast/colors with Levels and Tweak filters. there is an AVI along with the last sample. can u pls tell me if they can be improved upon? thx.
