I'm requesting a conformation box on exit to delete unused items. with reaper I often find litter audio files. Like when you start a take then abort it or accidentally record a few seconds here and there. It is time consuming to have to find those files afterwards and determine weather they should stay or go.
--------------------- I made money, the firm made money. 2/3 ain't bad.
Ideally these should go into a project media pool and get an 'unused' flag. Meanwhile the option "clean current project diretory" (File menue) is there to delete unused files.
But for now i just wanted to make sure you both knew that the project directory is easily accessible from the media explorer window within reaper and although be nice to have more options here it's actually really good having it tied to the real files instead of pseudo files like in cubase but it still needs working on :)
The Xenakios extensions has something similar to this but I would love to see him finish the explorer/soundminer plugin that is on his website maybe you could both work together and then split the donations! ;) I would gladly donate to this!!

I suspect we both play in different sandpits :-) But I'll put it on my list of things to do - just a matter of distilling some of the functions in AATranslator that read the Reaper project file and building them into a new version of mediasweeper and if that's not hard enough I'm gonna have to come up with a new name - that could be the difficult bit :-)
For sure not a real world project, but I tried to collect as many different item states as possible. I very much appreciate the effort. Maybe if you're starting to get some sense out of it there should be a discussion what has to come up in what manner in an ideal media pool and how it should be connected to the actual project. I am not the best expert for this, as I am for sure not exactly spoilt in that respect coming from Logic5. I attached an example item collection-project. Had to split it up in parts, as it kept exeeding the attachment limits. Please let me know when you finished downloading, so I can delete them and free up the space in my attachment account.
Ok I have downloaded the files - thanks So as I understand it we are concerned with Audio Files Video Files Sample Files Midi Files Bank Program Files Anything else? "what has to come up in what manner in an ideal media pool " My perception of the problem is 1. the identification of the component files which make up a 'project' 2. seperating the 'unused' items from the project folder Is this correct? "Meanwhile the option "clean current project diretory" (File menue) is there to delete unused files. " BTW - I assume that this function has no idea if these files are also used by other projects and/or saved in the wrong folder so you could be "cleaning up" files that you really need with another project? And of course you have to load the project to find out right?
Oh, I totally forgot about video and other asset files. I guess your list is about it. Only thing I can add from the top of my head are note neme files (which are plain .txt files that give the keys in the MIDI editor names). Re Bank/Program files, Reaper supports either its own *.reabank as well as it can read the Bank/Program part of Cakewalk's Instrument definition (*.ins)files. I don't think I would really miss Bank/Program and NoteName files if they didn't come up in the media pool. EDIT: Yes, you're right, "clean current project directory" does work as you say.
