basic instinct 2

@dinghy If, for whatever reason, you continue to be unsuccessful trying RipIt4Me, you might want to give DVDFab Decrypter (freeware) a go...

nope-windows 2000 here. just downloaded dvdfab-will try that. now, however, i have the clear problem of my (clean) disc just not reading-though all others do. if i open the file for the dvd, the video and audio both read empty! gonna reinstall ri4m and restart computer....tomorrow, after sleep. thanks. i'm sure i'm just missing something.

If the DVD isn't being read, it seems that it, or the drive, is the problem. If the drive reads every other DVD you pop in, then you know it's the disc. Take it back for an exchange in this case. Regards

I have a Plextor PX-755a (preferred) and an NEC 3520a. The Plextor sometimes refuses to recognise an original DVD where the NEC always finds it. I think it's something to do with the protection systems used by companies like Sony and Disney. It's always worth looking for firmware upgrades but I find this is a problem I can overcome only by using two DVD drives.

RE: basic instinct 2

OK, it seems that my drive will only launch these sony autoplay dvd's on the first try (restarting the computer worked). although (default media player) still cannot actually play these on the computer, i have not tried the other players again. it does allow me to decrypt it using (thanks as usual to "setarip") dvdfab. So, i have now succeeded with 2 other sony dvd's that were problems, but still can't do anything with basic instinct---but now that i've actually watched it, i couldn't care less. thanks too to everyone else who takes the time to figure out my issues!
