Key question here is: what will you be aiming to use it for? Before we go anywhere though, I'm a big fan of Focusrite gear :D

I'm looking to have low latency and to reord maybe 4 inputs at the most. Mostly just my son and I. I just purchased a new computer to run Reaper and be my stand alone recorder. Read below what I ahve to work with. So I need it to be freindly to work with Reaper and have low latency for a least 2 channels at a time.

I use my UX8 to track everything including drums. I'm only using 5 XLR inputs currently for the drums, but it has 8. RTL is not important in this case. I set the buffers to 4096, RTL ~85ms, but I'm monitoring the drums direct on the UX8, not thru the computer. Playback the tracks, record the drums to it. 8 XLR inputs is what made the differenc for me. I can record a rock band live: 2 guitars, bass & drums.

I think I'm gonna go with the Focusrite Saffire 40. I've been doing reading and it's supposed to be windows 7 compatable, but so is the M Audio and alot of others. I here horror stories about all of them so far exccept the Focusrite. I think for now (unless I change my mind again...) I'm gonna go with the Focusrite. I'm gonna talk to the tech at American Music Supply and see what they say. I also like the fact that the Focusrite is made of metal and you can rack mount it. It's not plastic like the Ultra. I don't want anything sitting on my desk with cords running out of it. I have a desk with racks built in so the Pro 40 will fit perfectly. I here the 40 has award winning pre's which I like and may be a step up from what i've got with my Presonus and Art pre's.
