Here's one for Steve, I'm working with an engineer in my studio who brought in a B&W G3 and Digi 001. My studios has Mix core systems on 9600 macs. We both use Cheetahs drives. He has an Atto card and we have 2940 cards on our 9600's. All drives are formatted with FWB drivers.Now here's the problem. We can take his drives from the B&W and mount them on the 9600 but when we try to mount the drives from 9600 on the B&W the G3 hangs on boot up. We tried 4 different drives from our 9600 rigs, all caused the G3 to hang on boot up. I've checked over termination, reloaded the Atto control and extensions. I did a search for other threads on this and found a few and the advise had to do with loading or removing the Atto extension and checking the "inhibit driver loading" but I'm either up the wrong tree or haven't hit the right combination yet. Any ideas?

Travis, Can I get the following information? - What's the firmware version of the ATTO card? - What version of FWB Hard Disk Toolkit are you using? - What version of ATTO ExpressPro-Tools are you using? - Is the ATTO card single or dual-channel? - If dual-channel, does this happen on both channels? - Have you tried different cables? Okay, FWB 2.0.6 will not work with ATTO firmware greater than version 1.1.1. So, for those drives to mount, you'll need to update the drivers to FWB 3.0.2. I'm not sure why the version 3.0 drives won't mount, but likely it's because they're on the same bus as the 2.0.6 drives and the whole bus is hanging. Another option is to power the drives down then boot the system -- then power the drives on and mount them. Also, you can do the above steps, place the ATTO ExpressPro-Tools extension in the extensions folder, launch ExpressPro-Tools 2.3.2, and use the Inhibit Driver Loading command to force the drives to run from the ATTO extension, as opposed to the FWB drivers. Just double click on a drive in the left-hand pain in the main window of EPT. You'll see a check box called Inhibit Driver Loading. Check it, then click on Apply To All to set it for all IDs on that channel (repeat for the other channel, if necessary). Quit EPT, follow the prompts and reboot. Steve, Thank you so much. Yes updating the driver did the trick. It seems a second internal audio drive on the G3 was formatted with 3.0.2 just as you thought and hung the atto bus when both tried to mount at the same time. Still could not force the 2.0.6 drive to mount by turning the drive on after the computer, that would still cause a crash. And I could not find the "inhibit driver loading" box on that drive because It would crash the computer. It so happens there was no audio on that drive so we just updated the drivers, however if there was audio we needed to get to I don't know what we would have done. Anyway I'll be updating all the studios drives. Thanks again. Travis
