Yea, this is common with VIA chipsets and onboard sound. Unfortunately, there isn't any sure way to cure it. It most likely has nothing to do with your capture card, though. Some things you can try: 1) if you have onboard sound, disable it 2) could be an IRQ conflict...change PCI slot of sound card 3) if your capture card has audio passthrough, bypass it and try going direct to the line-in on sound card 4) use a different sound card (this _should_ fix it) I had this problem on my old computer, and it drove me crazy! I spent weeks trying to find the cause, and eventually gave up and bought a SBLive which worked perfectly. cjv

With all due respect to cjv, I don't think it has anything to do with Via chipsets or on-board sound. I have on-board sound disabled an have always have. I also have a Soundblaster Audigy Platinum sound card. I think it has everything to do with the capture card. Some circuitry and components sit too close to something else on the capture card and picks up something it shouldn't. :-) I had the exact same phenomena on my captures until I plugged the audio from the satellite receiver (or VHS, or whatever my source was) in *directly to the sound card*, instead of passing it from the capture card to the sound card. Doing this will of course mean you'll lose the ability to use the tuner on the capture card. But that annoying sound is gone. /Swan
