I desperately need to get the Tascam 78HR hi8 machine to sync with PT. Ive tried all that i could. The Tascam manual is not sheedding any light (maybe too technical for me) here is what im using PT6.0 with HD Mac G4 933Mhz MOTU MTP AV Mackie dB8 the project tommorow requires us to do some ADR. We would be using BETA for the film playbak. with the BETA bein locked to PT. Finally it needs to go on a Hi8. My boss watns to do the recording and editing on PT and then dump it on Hi8 along with TC. I have not worked with a Hi8 but the manual states that u can write TC alonside ure 8traks. It seems that i need to send SMPTE to the 78HR. And i cant get the MTP AV to generate any. And it just aint working with MTC. I tried MMC. But the Hi8 is acting funny... first i need a closed loop. PT online. and when i press play on PT the 78HR just rewinds completely. I did somehow mangae to get PT to slave to the 78Hr but there are hell lot of dropouts. And anywaazz.. thats not whats needed. I have a bad feeling that im missing out something stupid.. such as a bad AMS configuratiion or something. Or maybe im just too new to this whole stuff.. the MT Av and all... whatever... ppl. Pleaz... Get this workin tommorow (thats the next 12hrs). Thank you.

I still cant get this thing working... i also have OS9 installed.. so if someone kan get it to work with PT 5.3. thats kool too... the prob is that the MTP AV is not sending any SMPTE to the DA78. When i press chase on the 78HR it gives me a message stating E. No TC. Help.

Sometimes when the Tascam unit is set to the wrong time code (ie: 25fps, 29.97) it will give that message. Make sure it is set to the right type of code.
