Reading 32 bit .wav files?

Is there a way to read 32 bit (single floating point) .wav files? It seems they won't even open. I use impulse response files having some coefficient values much exceeding one so 16 bit won't work. They dynamic range of the coefficients is high enough that scaled fixed point is problematic as well. 32 bit samples work ok, just not 32 bit files. Advice appreciated.

Wow! I didn't expect silence. Could a function be added to open and read float files or could the current file functions be enhanced?

I seem to remember reading something along the lines of "if Jesus played guitar, what pedals would he use?"
