Wow after a week of screwing around I can burn DVD-Rs on my linux RH9 system with a Pan Lf-D310 burner with cdrecord-DvdPro. It was pretty frustrating I loaded the lastest cdrecord-DVDpro2.0-1 gnu binary and followed directions to load with the wrapper and I kept getting the wrong driver. Than after thinking it might be firmware, udf module interferingetc., it might be this or that I decided to load an older version of the binary - That was it. This version worked. The newer one must have a bad driver call or something. Anyway it is feeling good to be able to burn DVD-R in linux. By the way the dvd-ram feature in this drive is drag and drop in linux and fully compatible to exchange data with winxp using UDF2.0 cdrecord-prodvd-1.11a40-i586-pc-linux-gnu
I have bought my DVD recorder this week (a NEC 1000A, +R/+RW) If you have a +R/W writer, look at I cannot give more help, as I have not yet used it under linux, but hope to do it during the weekend. Good luck!
