...but maybe you know something I don't. I was adjusting the standard 4 band EQ plugin with the mouse (iMac) when I got a message that said to check the firewire connection because the device wasn't responding. The 002 still had the same readout and everything looked cool, but when I shut down Protools, the readout didn't change. I turned it off, and when I turned it back on, it "validated" but didn't do anything after that. The next time I turned it on, I could hear the little click that lets you know the wheels are turning, but all that appeared on the display was a not entirely random series of dots that looked like a digital cry for help. All subsequent attempts to fire up the previously trusty machine yeilded nothing but the faint orange glow of the background lights. However, upon returning from band practice, I tried switching the firewire into the other input on the 002. The little green light (that says it's in simultanious use mode or something) in the back came on, and low and behold, the welcome message appeared and standby mode was in effect. I turned it back off, switched the firewire back to the original slot, and gave it another shot. It was again working, so I turned on that pretty white computer and initiated Protools, eager to finish the mix. At that point, my old friend the "hardware not responding" sign popped up. I attempeted a 002 restart, and was back to the inactive amber glow. Have I just typed a eulogy for my five month old baby (thank god for warranties), or is there something I don't know about here?
