it is on already, but still, Reaper does allow me to copy my items to other places. I would like not to be given any other option than copy exactly at the same place, "time locking" or something...
Well... when I hold Ctrl and move-copy the item to another track, it stays "semi-locked" to the original starting position of the first item, which means I can move the item, but the item will snap to the original starting position and remain there when you let go of the mouse.
OK - but will it ONLY snap to this position ? this is the point : if I need to copy a whole drum section (12 tracks i.e.) to a new set of tracks, I want to make sure all my media will be copied at the exact same place in the timeline. What I usually get in Reaper is the same place as a priority, but then also other options closer enough to the initial place to lead me into confusion. I would like to be able to press whatever key when copying/pasting and force Reaper to copy/paste at the exact time position.
--------------------- i ahve big hair i cant spell or type,, get over it
wouldn't it be much easier if we just had to press and extra key to prevent item left/right movement when copying/moving ? like SHIFT (as it toggles snap / non snap mode) This sounds like a very basic feature to me ...

I know this isn't exsactly what youre after but it works really well. Rescript goove quantize. Simply select any items you want to use for lining up (drums etc) Press capture Move other items (vocals etc) close to ware they want to be. Press apply. You only have to do the capture once and you could capture all drum positions for a complete song if you wished. Then simply map apply to any key you like and be confident everything will always be perfectly in time. Enjoy......... P.s. I'm going to have a go at editing the csurf plugin for the radikal tecknologys Sak 2k in the near future.
