Use AM III -or- MBox with PT6?

Hello I imagine you'll have to install PTLE on two OSX systems. Install one without the mbox connected (Note the AM111 card needs a newish Rom for G4 capabilility). Then install on the other systen for the Mbox. I installed LE6 onto my g4 with a mix system in the PCI slots and it reconized it's hardware. Although I had the MBox connected it only let me access my D24/Mixfarm. (Not what I was intending) I was trying to see how my DP g4 tower out performed my powerbook.

Arrrgh! I set up OSX 10.2.4 on a separate drive to the G4 that also houses the AMIII. I installed PT6 for Mbox. When I open a new session, it will NOT recognize the Mbox in hardware setup. I guess the very presence of the AMIII screws everything up. It shouldn't be this way. Some days!!! VG

Dalecoz, If I can't get this thing working correctly, I may go to a 001. In that case, the AMIII would be available. It is already upgraded for use on the G4. I still want to know why I can't use it -or- the Mbox on the same machine. Maybe a response will arrive here soon. VG

I use an Mbox, but I don't have any experience with the AMIII. Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do both? The AMIII is limited to 18 or 20 bit? Something like that. Anyway, I don't know for sure how to address the problem but I wondered what the advantage to using both would have. I guess you do have the option of 4 outputs with the AMIII. I had this exact problem yesterday upgrading a friend's system. Loaded ProTools for MBox, but could not select the MBox to use because it was somehow setup for AMIII only. Yanked the AMIII card and all is fine now.
