Hello folks, I would really apreciate if someone could explain in detail how the xvd quantization matrices work. I'm by no means a newb in video compression so go on with tech-talk ;) The following I have guessed, so please correct me. The matrices define which quantizers are used on a per-macroblock basis based on its complexity (motion & texture). Does that mean that looking at the matrix you have one axis corresponding to encreasing motion the other increasing texture? If true (or not), which axis corresponds to what? Why are there 2 matrices? How do the values in the matrices interact with the quantizer you set in the codecs main tab? thanx in advance.

RE: Question about quant matrices

Because a lot of people don't use custom matrices and there are enough stickies atm,.. Also if one seeks the info it's available through the search function. :) (there are a bunch of other good threads regarding custom matrices) Cu Selur
