RE: Smartripper/Bad Frames

please excuse me if this is rude or inappropriate, but when you load the vob's in DVD2AVI make sure your loading from the files you just ripped and not the DVD, its what I did the first time around and could be what your doing (I had the same results as you). Since I dont know if you are relatively new to this or are a veteran, I must assume that you are new... once again sorry (if you know this already)

RE: Smartripper/Bad Frames

No No, been encoding Divx for about 1.5 years now :P Used to use FairUse all the time, but I recently made the switch to Gordian Knot when Divx 5.0 came out because I wanted to try the new codec as I grew tired of 3.11. I just think the current rippers are just having a hard time with this disc. I'm going to try a few different things tomorrow and see if I can get anything to work. I'm just running out of ideas on what could cause this (this is the FIRST disc in 1.5 years that has given me problems). And just to answer your question, I am opening the ripped VOBs from my hdd, not off the DVD. :P

On first impressions, I'd say the decryption key had changed at that point, and hence it isnt decrypting it properly. Enable the 'Detect Mastering Errors' feature, rip it again, and see if that helps.

Will try it again tonight when I get home. And post the results here. Thanks for watching the forums and giving a suggestion, much appreciated! GodHead

Hi- Your problems are a known glitch in some of the Escaflowne UE discs. There are a lot of bad copies out there due to a bad batch being produced. It can be exchanged, or go for the regular edition which doesn't have the problem. For more information, you should read this very long thread:
