I've read a lot about you people having your songs on the web. I'd like to do it myself, but I'm still hesitating. Here are my questions, hope you'll find the time&patience to answer: - What's the best Website (MP3.Com,...)? - Don't you get a little scared that your music can be listened by anyone around the world (is there any protection provided by the Websites?) - Is it free ? (hope it is, since I'm not ready to pay to get my music played!!!). Can't think of other questions, but if you feel you should add something to this, feel free...

The latest Electronic Musician Mag has three separate articles on putting your music on the web. It covers the basics of the web page as well as streaming and downloadable music; also various web sites which are free or charge. I think it will answer a lot of your questions.

On the other, I wouldn't want to speed up that process at all ... so i make crappy music. Just kidding. My partner and I have a CD to sell, so maybe our methods aren't as applicable to your situation. (?) We've posted songs on mp3.com (which, yes, is free), but all but two of them (the "singles," I guess) are encoded at low bit-rates, so they sound pretty bad, essential musicality excepted, of course. Also, we have our own website, on which we post the same lower-bit-rate songs in their entirety, and also some high bit-rate song clips, usually around a minute in length. So in our case, we wanted people to be able to hear the whole album before deciding to buy, but we don't want to give away the album on-line, but then we also don't want people to think that it actually sounds like a bad mp3. So I don't know. Hopefully the compromise is working. By the way, even though you can set up your mp3.com page so that you only have links to stream your songs, and no option to download, it's very easy to get around this and download the original mp3. Using mp3 streams is no safer than using downloadable mp3s, if you're concerned about giving away freebies. I don't recall seeing this mentioned anywhere on mp3.com, so thought I'd warn you. We're also registered with garageband.com, which I personally prefer over mp3.com. Hope this helps.

To DIGI002: I'm not sure I understood your whole post correctly, but... As far as e commerce Laws are concerned, I'm aware of this! (as I said in a previous topic, France is not even in the "elected "country on DIGI Shop Website for legal reasons). But I don't think this applies to artists putting song on the Web for free!... To Zavijah : thanks man, that's the kind of input I need (except for the doubtfull humour maybe...).

I pity the fool that uses MP3.com!! Just kidding. I use MP3 .com. I would only recommend it if you have a lot of patience and a cable net connection.

To Digi002 : Thanks man; appreciated. To Augiealexander : CAN'T YOU JUST GET LOST!! What are you, a ten years old, or some kind of parasite who's only goal on this DUC is to make fun of people's nickname?? What a waste of intelligence and time...(mine not yours). Get some interests in life others than polluting forum like this one, please! Look I'll even make an effort to avoid having to hear from you again: "Hey MrT,where is your van ?" "Hey MrT,where is the rest of the team?" Sorry, I'm not as good as you, Beavis, but I'm not a real fan of that kind of humour. See you (NOT!!!!!) Butthead !
