RE: New track volume fader algorithm

I've been thinking about this a lot and I believe that this algorithm is more of a fade effect than a new method. See, when you have your level show -7 dB and you want to reduce it by 4 dB you want to have that exact amount, not an logarithmic approximation if you will. This does sound good, which is because logarithms are how our ears interpret things (kind of like our hearing is not linear, but Fletcher-Munson shaped or whatever). So as an effect this is great, but to replace linear control of faders and all automation a big NO.

RE: New track volume fader algorithm

well iput the default volume fader range to -50 and +16, and shape to 1, not default of 2.3. it gives a 1 db change from 0dbfs to -50 on each scroll wheel click/notch. thats linear to the ear, as long as db on the mixer means 'twice as loud' per bel (1 bel is 10 deci-bels), to the EAR. i know db for amplifiers is a different scale, like i believe 3db on an amplifier is 10 db to the ear-db-scale. db, dbfs, dbv, dbm, theres lots of db scales....
