Has anyone made the change from audiovision to pro tools? Firstly how should you save the audiovision session 'properly' to a Pro Tools session? And then what do you need to do in Pro tools to import it correctly? The session information imports ok, but it struggles to find the media. I have tried manually relinking to the media through project browser but with little success. We used the very last version of audiovision and trying it out on Pro Tools LE 6.8.1 with digitranslator and Dv toolkit. Any help would be much appreciated here. Thanks

RE: Audiovision to Pro tools

Hey, WE do it this way and works pretty well. Make sure there are no mark ins or outs in your audiovision project. Select the project in its bin then go file, export as pro tools 3x or whatever pro tools option it gives. It will save a pro tools icon on to the drive with your audio on it. You then bring this drive to your protools and double click the pro tools icon and it should open up fine. I usually then save a session copy in onto my protools drives as the audiovision drive is an old avid nine gig. Hope this helps some...

Hey Dean, we do this very often. I select the Sequence, duplicate it, throw everything away that i dont need and then make a "Backup Project" in a new folder along with a PT 4 export...Then I have to open it on a Mac PT LE, save it as PT with Pc compatibility so that i can open it on my PC 6.9.3 TDM...

RE: Audiovision to Pro tools

Thank you so much for your advice. I went back and looked at it and realised i was 'importing the audiovision/ pro tools session as session data'??? as if the pro tools session was an omfi??? My excuse is that it is monday morning. However now it seems to quit pro tools whenever i hit play, no error message, just quits out of pro tools. Bit of a long shot, but has anyone experienced the same?? Or indeed do you guys know of any problems that i may encounter with the change from audiovision to pro tools. Regards Dean Jones

Yeah Protools isn't too fond of reading the audiovision sd2 files from the source drive.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Thought i had it with the 'Save Session copy' even saved the audio files to aiff's, all looked good ...until i hit play!!! Quits everytime??? Getting a bit worried we were about to invest a hefty amount of money on an upgrade to Pro Tools, not too sure if it is a good idea now. We must be able to access our old projects. Got to run a business here.

I just select the sequence and save as a ProTools session. Make sure you take all of your audiofiles with you and once in ProTools I always convert the audiofiles to .wav or AIFF/C for compatibility reasons.

Dean, Try one more thing. Make sure you save the "save session copy in" to your pro tools drive as you have done as aiff files. Then make a brand new session with Wav files as the audio file type. Then import session data from your aiff session and convert all audio. This usually does the trick if I'm having problems with transfers.

RE: Audiovision to Pro tools

Thanks again guys for all the advice. Whilst messing about i changed all the input and output settings in my session and this seems to have sorted it ....so far anyways. I will have to attempt a few more imports just to make sure it was not just a one off. Can anyone see why this might have fixed it? Thanks
