I got a call last night from the west coast. My uncle, who recorded a couple of esoteric albums back in the 70's, is having them reissued by a label in Germany. He wants to oversee the transferring/editing process. Aside from the basics, is there anything I need to know. Any tips would be appreciated. Also, can someone suggest a plug or software to remove pops and crackles? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the replys! Those are good questions Tele, and I didnt ask either of them. I am assuming he doesnt, but I am going to call him tonight and see what the deal is. In any case I can demo the Waves Restoration plugs for 30 days and see how those work. I will probably get a new stylis for my turntable and go from there. Any other suggestions?

Waves Restoration works great. Read pdfs for each and you will find good hints like X-Click before X-Crackle in the chain of plug-ins. Just click the ? on the plug-in and read as you go. My recent LP digitalization project used this plug-in chain: X-Click>X-Crackle>X-Noise>Eq bussed to a 2nd track, both recording. Then process more from there if needed. Good Luck.
