RE: HELP!!!!!! Pro Tools 6 problem

Finally fixed the problem! I had fixed Disk Permissions several times to no avail. I finally ran Norton Utilities for OS X again, which came up with about 10 major errors in the directories and catalogs. After this completely messed up the directory I ran Disk Warrior which then fixed the directory completely. Ever since, everything is working perfectly. I normally run Disk Warrior first and then Norton Disk Doctor and Speed Disk after a major installation and for normal maintenance about every 2 months. That was the problem. I had to reverse the process and run Disk Warrior second. I do have OS X installed on a separate drive form OS 9 and have found that to be working out well. The RTAS Plug-In situation that you spoke of earlier did not pertain to my situation. Thanks for the effort though in attempting to track this down!

RE: HELP!!!!!! Pro Tools 6 problem

So after the 100th 'unexpected' PT 6.0.1 quit (usually right in the middle of some sweet edit), I've decided to start from scratch. My system is pretty simple; A dual 800 with two internal IDE drives and 1GB RAM, an external Maxtor FW drive, a couple of USB devices (TurboMouse and Griffin Powermate) and of course the HD 96 I/O. I want to make this system as clean as possible, as long as I can retain my network connection. So for those of you who have stable sytems, how did you do it? Currently I'm running a partitioned 80GB drive; 25 GB for OS9, 25 GB for OSX and 25GB for audio storage. Could this be the root of all OSX evil? Should I install on a totally separate drive? I want to keep OS9/PT 5 for safety. Should I only go to 10.2.3 instead of 10.2.4? What sort of install are you stable people doing? I would really appreciate a ground up guide. I've already done a clean install to 10.2.4 but my system is plagued with sluggishness and quitting problems. Thanks for any help, AB
