As a former DP user - 2x through 3x, I certainly feel your pain. I now work 100% of the time in PT and there are a couple things I dearly miss, especially for film work. The tempo automation is the biggest for me. Yes you can work around in PT,and I often do, but it was so darn easy in DP. To answer you last post - Softsynths in PT - IMHO not abysmal at all. I use Atmosphere, Trilogy, Stylus, Lounge Lizard, Battery, B4, Reason, Live, SampleTank II, Virus, Synth One, Synth Spider, Pro53. With the exception of SampleTank II, all work great and with no problems on my G5/PT 6.2.3. SampleTank II is still a bit buggy - so I tend to print often and move on, which, frankly, forces me to work more efficiently and spend less time getting super anal on midi arrangements. Not sure what you mean by your second question - Yes you can combine native and TDM plugs in a TDM environment. You just can't use TDM plugs on a native only system. MIDI beat clock rocks in PT 6.2.3. I constantly use tempo based effects in my compositions. TL everyphase, and all of the sound toys plugs are awesome as tempo based plugs. MIDI timing is pretty good. Via rewire extremely solid. I do have to beat detective my battery drum parts once printed as there is usually some minor slop - but only in heavy dance music when ther are many percussive elements working together. All in all I'd say PT does about 80% of what I used to do in DP. I hear there is going to be a major MIDI overhaul in PT soon, so hopefully that will get me to 95% or 100% - we'll see... Hope this helps...
