Hello everyone, I have been playing with auth.dll and it has been working fine up until now. I encounter one DVD so far that I can't seem to authenticate with auth.dll. Dune (Region 2) will not authenticate. My question is this... Is there an updated version of auth.dll? The one that I have is dated 6-23-01. I figured that others must have similar troubles here and there, so I thought that I would ask. Do you happen to know why there is a problem with authentication on the Dune DVD? Does this happen to alot of other DVD's? I'm interested in looking at your source code myself, just to learn what is going on.. altough I'm no programming genius, hopefully it will make sense. :D Thanks for the reply, Jeff

Like I said, I'm kind of new to this, but is there a way to get more detailed info as to where the problem with authenticating the DVD is? Other utilities or something... I'm currently using a program I wrote in VB that uses auth.dll and drive.dll to take care of authentication, which it works for everything but Dune so far, and I checked everything I have here at work today (64 DVD's), and I'll check everything at home tonight. Another thing that I just tried, and should mention was that DVD Decrypter shows that it has no copy protection. I'm wondering if it is using the brute force method, or if it's not detecting properly. My guess is that DVD Decrypter is a little more advanced than my program :) - So I thought that I would mention it. I have a few discs that I know are not encrypted (Experience the Deep, The Ultimate Space Experience, The Three Stooges (all Madacy Entertainment)) and these don't give me any trouble with auth.dll, but Dune does. Unfortunatly not, hence im going to start that thread in the Development forum. As my auth code works on all my dvds and the three dvd drives I have access to, but fails on some other people's (like Tron's SmartRipper does) The only prog I know that seems to authenticate 100% of the time is DVDDecrypter, maybe lightning uk! can shed some light on it... (in the code ive got everything should be ok, it can only be the actual key decryption code that can be at fault...I think) -Nic
