You could have just edited your above post, but nevermind :) So, you have that 3.5 mm cable connected to a Line In (green) on your motherboard, right? Could you tell us which soundcard are you using? Basically, you need to have ASIO drivers installed (if you don't have ones for your soundcard, use ASIO4ALL) to get the lowest latency. After you have that solved, you need to create a new track in Reaper, press the orange button with black circle to arm the track, right click on the VU meter to select your recording input. You use the first stereo input (NOT MIDI!) that's on the list. Now press record and it should record your DS. I hope.

asio drivers? uhm, how would you know if you have them installed or not? -____- sorry, i sound like a total noob. i have everything else set up though.

When you go to Preferences->Audio->Device, under "Audio system" you have option of WDM, DirectSound, WaveOut, ASIO, Dummy Audio. You need to have ASIO. If you can't select ASIO or when you select it, nothing shows up below, you need to go to: download it and install, then restart Reaper. Select it then set the latency so that there's no stuttering (good starting values are 512 and 256 samples). That should take care of it. If it doesn't wait for other people to help, I'm off to bed! G'night :)

that didn't quite work. im not sure if its the ds, or if its because i have it plugged in somewhere its not supposed to be plugged into haha. you said the line in (green colored) input. im pretty sure, i have it in the right place... but it doesnt seem to be working? :/

Well, now I can hardly care about my Windows computer, but I need some help with my Mac? I thought it would be wiser to record on a computer made for stuff like this. So, where do I start... I still have my Nintendo DSi... but I can't get the sound to work (I have a male to male plug inserted in the input 3.5" slot in the back... but I don't have the slightest idea how to set it up to run. I downloaded Reaper as well.
