I have a Dell XPS-12 with the Intel I5 and Intel 4000 graphics, Windows 8. I was using the 7.1M software, and it had acceptable graphics performance on my Samsung 2560 X 1440 display through the DP on the HP dock. However, 7.1M has the Metro Video DRM issue. I updated the drivers to 7.2, the DRM video is fixed. However, the video performance through the dock is so choppy that it is practically unusable. I'm working around it by not using the DP on the Dock and using the MiniDP on the laptop, but it sort of defeats the purpose. Also, we were going to deploy these systems for use on other laptops that don't necessarily have a built in Mini display port so would need to use the Dock DP for the display.

Any update on 2560 x 1440 performace?

When you say the video performance is choppy, is this on full sreen video playback, or on desktop apps or under Metro? 2560x1440 is a lot of pixels to compress and send. Can you make sure the system is set up to use maximum CPU when plugged in, as its possible the system is CPU-bound. Wim

Desktop apps are choppy. For example, if I move a window, or scroll through a document. The window rendering is really slow.

Could you see if increasing the priority of DisplayLinkManager.exe in task manager improves this? See attached image Wim

Yes, I understand it is a lot of pixels. Apple Thunderbolt Displays with MacBook airs have a lot of pixels as well, and a slower processor than I'm running. If your product can't do this, why say you support it? I set the priority up as you suggested. Being that it is Windows 8, I set the priority to real time. No improvement. I also noticed, that even just moving the mouse, you can see noticeable lag and dropped frames. I looked at the CPU while doing this, and displaylink never went above 5% and there was plenty of spare CPU in the 80+% range. Have you actually tried this in house? I'm using the HP 3005pr which has a displayport connector. A Dell XPS -12 I5, Windows 8 Pro, Intel 4000 and 8GB ram. The Dell has a mini display port. If I use the internal MiniDP and don't use the HP display port connector everything is fine. However, we want to deploy this with machines that don't have minidp and use this dock. But doesn't look encouraging.
