Strange question. Situation: I tracked vocals on top of a backingtrack. But while mixing, i notice something is up. Later in the song, when i play it back, the vocal parts doesn't line up with the backing track. (While the first parts were no problem!) Ok, I nudge them up in their place. When i done that with alle the pieces, then the middle parts skipped again. They keep shifting in timing. Is this a problem with a setting (snap or something) that isn't right? I never had that before. I'm pretty sure it's no latency because i didn't had that problem at the first minute or so from the track. System: Reaper v5 RME hdsp CPU use: 2% Driver Sample rate 64 What's up?
hi ...just a guess, could it be that you have "ripple editing per track" set enabled?? greetz Alex

you're welcome please do also check the samplerates of your project/ backing track and vocal track...normally reaper resamples them if there are differencies you can check that in the items properties afaik. alex
I checked the sample rates and the ripple editing and they both seem fine. I played around a bit with the buffer size and didn't get good results either. I'm getting kinda desperate at this point. Anyone have ideas? Edit: if you pm me your email adres, i can send the files in dropbox to you. Thanks a lot!
@augerJ I have the issue even when the fx are bypassed. I don't think it's a plugin problem. I recorded the vocal in pieces and now i'm putting them together. So it's sliced in a dozen pieces or so. The shift is timing is like this: i check that the vocal part 1 is alligned with the backtrack and it is. I check the vocal part 5 which is good aligned, i nudge it up (this is a seperate piece) so that it fits like a glove when i replay it. Then i do the same with vocal part 7. It doesn't align, i move it or nudge it until it aligns. Then when i play the piece, vocal part 5 is like a second late. Then i fix part 5 again, but parts 7, 8 , 9 isn't aligned. Strange thing is, part 1 is always very nicely aligned. I tried aligning part 9 first, but as soon as i move part 5 i keep getting problems.
Ok, just toyed around some more. if i start the track from the beginning, it's alligned nicely. If i put my start somewhere else, it's off. That could explain why the first one is always right. To listen to that, i start from the beginning. If i start to listen say, 7 seconds in, the first part doesn't seem aligned either. I think that's either the driver or the computer giving problems with playback?

Yeah, the audio file is completely sliced up. So everypart is a part. When i checked back it looks like it plays normally if i start the track from the beginning, but when i start it from elsewhere, the vocal file plays back too slow or too fast. So i think it isn't so much a problem of alligning, but the playback of the individual parts. I checked and didn't saw any stretch markers. Strange thing is that the backing track plays back normally. Thanks so much for the help already! appreciate it!
