Number 1 in what? The DAW world in general or native DAW's? Natively, I would say Digi 1st Logic second. In DAW general I would say RADAR systems are second to Digi (popularity, not quality).

"WHO DOES NUMBER TWO WORK FOR??" Sorry, couldn't resist... However I say there is no #1. They're all well suited for particular circumstances, and just like a pop song, sales is no indication of a good build. If I didnt need my home rig to be compatible with a few studios, I would probably not use Protools at all. I don't know what I'd pick since I haven't had cause to shop for something else.
