jon... i dunno if this is true in your case.... but some midi interfaces if you google sometimes might be off timing wise.( i dont know...maybe an issue with crystals ??) if you google....youll see there are many arguments about getting the most accurate midi timing. and what to use. and the best interface. some peoople use midi interfaces that hook up to the parallel port.and swear by it over other approaches for example. what you should do is use a connection to the pc generating the midi to the other pc that is known to be very accurate timing wise. then redo the test. in summary the whole issue of midi timing is a very hairy subject to go into. heres one of many articles talking bout the issues... page down the link page re midi. jon i also just did a quik google....and people are talking about midi timings/probs that use lots of different interfaces and daw software. even mac people...
