I was about to do a null test of the two files to see what the differences are, but they seem to have very little relation and do not have the same starting point so it's like comparing apples and oranges.

To me both tracks sound similar. Yes, they don't null. Is these tracks rendered/exported from solid files or each time generated from synths? IMHO too much synth/reverb generated randomness to judge different DAW summing differences. To me sounds best when both tracks played together and B is phase inverted (fast judgement whithout loudness comparison) :)
